Hola Camille,
The pleasure is all mine. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and observations with these young designers. The fact that you wrote in Espanol was especially impactful for them. It was great to be able to hand the kids your comments and allow them to read for themselves. Ana was particularly affected, and I think you can see the affect of your comments in her final design which was chosen by the group as their premier series to show the client, and hence the one I placed into the home page of the blog. After I return to the states, I'll post all of the final designs and send all the critics an invitation to see all the results. Thanks again for your participation. I'll see you on twitter.

Mark, thanks so much for taking the time to give the students your thoughtful critique. It meant a lot to the kids that professionals such as yourself would take the time to think about what they are doing and make suggestions for improvement. Muchas gracias.

Hi All,

I'm a professional graphic designer in Seattle, and Programming Director with AIGA Seattle. I've been practicing for about 4 years.

I'll make some general comments, wish I could be there to get into more detail:

Ana: I like that your designs are very simple and bold. They have a strong visual impact.

Gaby: I like that you made an expressive use of typography.

Elena: You show a lot of thought about the personal side of the disease and I can see you have a conceptual direction. I'd like to see this more finished.

Werner: Your use of color and the image of the man shows an urgency to this problem.

All: Your designs show a good effort. As a critic, I'd like to see something that makes a connection to how diabetes impacts us everyday (Elena seems to be going in this direction)...food and lifestyle choices are important. You have a chance to educate the public about our choices. I do not speak Spanish, so I'm only evaluating based on the image, sometimes it's useful to think your audience may not be able to read the words.

I hope this is helpful and applaud all your efforts. this can be very challenging work!

Hi Jeff, hi all,

A quick thank you for letting me participate in this wonderful project.
Something about myself? I am a Art Director/Graphic designer with more than 15 years of experience. I was born in Venezuela and studied graphic design in Caracas as well as Milan (Italy) where I now live and work. My work ranges from corporate image, website design, graphic design and book covers. It is a rewarding and fun job, as well as demanding. My advice? Look at the work of others and learn from them. Try always to give the best you have. Keep an open mind and a curious eye. :-))
Saludos!
