Blog at WordPress.com. Theme: Digg 3 Column by WP Designer.
The poster is I catching and you can really feel the pain of the disease. The motion direction that goes from the headline to the organization logo is great and really draws in the eye. The columns of text from Symptoms to Prevention easily spells out what you need to be aware of. My one suggestion would be to enlarge the photo subject to fill the space more and then reverse out the text “La Diabetes” from the subject to tie the two elements closer. Nice work!
Hola Werner!

Hello Werner! I love the idea! First, the picture does a great job making you feel the pain that the disease can cause. My suggestion: use visual guides. Imagine you have vertical rulers, that way the text that is in the title of each column (Síntomas, ¿Qué me puede pasar?, Prevención) are centered with the entire poster, and the text below each is distributed the same way. This, so each column is centered and aligned with the rest. Try to make them the same size. The design is clear and right on the spot, and this can be the last detail that wraps up your design proposal.
I like the concept of the photograph transmitting pain. My suggestion is if possible loose some text and enlarge the picture. My initial reaction is not to want to read all the text. Also, the suggestion of some moving effect in the background looks good, if it’s more developed and it’s included mixed in the red background leading to “Sabías que” text it would be very interesting!
A very attention-getting design concept. The use of the red background really projects an image of urgency or emergency. You’ve done a very nice job of laying out the text so it stands out clearly and is easy to read. I do have a concern that the design may include too much information. Perhaps it should have less text if is to be used as a poster – conveying the major points with less words. Perhaps the size and amount of type will depend on the end product (poster, flyer, advertisement, etc.) created to get the message across. I realize that the photo used is currently for placement only. However, in creating your final photo image, you may want to consider making use of a younger person as a model. Doing so would convey that diabetes may impact people of a wide variety of ages.
Hola Werner,
Buen trabajo!!
Hello Werner:
I like the color use and the titles are strong, making the eye catch the three most important elements at a first glance: foto-question-diabetes. I agree with Kitty, the text underneath should be aligned in three columns and maybe you can bring down a little bit those columns so that the text of the diabetes has a little bit more air, thus improving leggibility. I would also add a little bit more leading to the last frase “los jovenes…” that way the exclamation points don’t touch the letters underneath.
Good work!

Hi everyone!, I’m Vanesa, I’m from Guatemala but I’m living in Mexico City, studying a graduate program. I’ve been in graphic design for 4 years now, I do specially print and I want to congratulate the kids for their talent.
Werner, I think your poster design is good, direct and effective. My suggestion is that you use a young model in pain for the picture, to communicate the message that diabetes affects them and make the link between the idea and the people watching your poster.
About the text, my suggestion is to organize it visually, align it (title with the text). Take care of the spelling too.
Good luck!
Hola amiga! i have been in design and graphics for over 11 years, art is my passion and i use it in conjuction with nonprofit. i work in Phoenix AZ for the world’s 1st and largest food bank as the senior designer/webmaster. i have traveled to Guatemala and do projects in Santiago with a school of homeless children.
the idea of using a person in your design is a great idea of connecting a view with your art and the message, great job on adding that element to your design!
the use of red in your work brings out very passion and alarming feelings, with this message i think that can work well and effective.
my only suggestion would be to the possibly tie the tile “la Diabetes” into the image of your person…since he fades into black towards the bottom, try continuing that down in a box or an area then add “la Diabetes” in white. this will tie the connection between your model and the message and allow it to really stand out as one powerful element.
keep up the great work!!!!!
